In the 1960s, the luxury lighter, created twenty years earlier by S.T. Dupont, became a coveted diplomatic gift. One of them — a golden Ligne 1 adorned with a discreet “J” — was presented to Jackie Kennedy by André Malraux, then France’s Minister of Cultural Affairs under General de Gaulle.

Moved by the gesture and captivated by French elegance, the First Lady developed a deep attachment to this object — both intimate and functional. She would later ask S.T. Dupont to create a pen to match her lighter — a commission that would give birth to the Classique, the Maison’s first luxury writing instrument.

In 2025, the legend is reborn: the new Ligne 1 reinvents itself with slightly more generous proportions — 50 mm in height and 37 mm in width — while remaining the smallest of S.T. Dupont’s luxury lighters. This perfectly balanced jewel features gold or palladium finishes, available in a fully metallic version or contrasted by a shiny black lacquer body.
